Pitcher Ian Clark led in strikeouts for the night with 11.

Bolivar baseball loses Senior Night to hot bats of South Side

In an emotional night that honored senior Tigers, as well as would be senior Tiger Donald Hemker, the Bolivar Tigers baseball team lost 5-1 to Southside in a tough game that included 12 strikeouts for Bolivar pitcher Ian Clark and hits by Kaleb Mckinnie, Trae Hobbs, and Ian Clark.
Southside opened the game with a hard hit line drive to left field by Lowe and an RBI double by Pierce. Clark registered two strikeouts and McKinnie snagged a line drive to end the inning.
Mckinnie led off for the Tigers with a second pitch double, Hobbs hit a fly ball to center who then threw out Mckinnie at third. Bolivar then grounded out to the Hawks pitcher, Degnegard, to end the inning.
In the top of the second, Smith smashed the first pitch to right for an extremely rare opposite field homerun by a right handed batter. After the solo shot, Clark kept his composure to claim two more strikeouts and a ground out to bring the home team back to the plate.
Bolivar would not be able to capitalize after a hit by pitch, two shallow pop ups, and a strikeout, ended the third inning with 11 at bats.
In the top of the fourth, Southside took advantage as the first three batters loaded the bases from a walk and two errors. A hit by pitch scored the fourth run of the game and a single drove in another. Clark then grabbed two more strikeouts and a long fly ball ended the inning with the bases loaded.
