Bolivar All-Stars Rule Horn Lake Again
The next time Bolivar phones, the people in Horn Lake might let the call go to voice mail.
The reason they might not take the call is that Bolivar, for the second tournament in a row, beat the host Horn Lake team in the championship game.
The Bolivar 12U team, who went 5-0 in the tournament and is now 9-1 in tournament play this year, won their pool play games by beating Oxford 5-1 and Batesville 9-6 on Saturday. In bracket play, Bolivar demolished Hernando and Senatobia by 16-0 in each contest, setting up the final with the Horn Lake Outlaws.
Bolivar got out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and held off Horn Lake by a 5-2 margin.
Josiah Clark pitched four innings, giving up two runs before giving way to Tyler Rice in the final inning. Rice got the two hitters he faced and then threw out a runner trying to steal home to end the game. In the win over Senatobia, Rice pitched a three inning no-hitter and had a three-run home run in the top of the first to help Bolivar gain the final.
