
BMS wins first meet of season
The Bolivar Middle School Tigers (BMS) cross country team came out on top of a large field of schools to win the 14th annual BMS cross country meet, which was held on Thursday, September 3 at Bolivar City Park.
With a total of 66 runners on 10 teams from all over West Tennessee, Bolivar finished ahead of University School of Jackson (USJ) by just one point, 88 to 89 Jackson Christian School (JCS) was third with 93. Other schools included Augustine with 99 points, Lexington Middle School (LMS) with 111 points, Dresden with 145 points, Medina with 159 points, Savannah Christian Academy with 181 points, Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) with 213 points and St Mary’s with 215 points.

Bolivar Head Coach Allison Wright was pleased with the team's performance.
“The boys have worked hard. We are a young team but they practice hard every day, and it really paid off today,” Wright said.
Only six girls’ teams had enough racers to qualify for the team event. Medina finished first with 52 points, Lake Road was second with 86 points and TCA had 109 points. Other schools were USJ with 120 points, Augustine with 132 points, and LMS with 182 points.
