John Baker slides into home for the first run of the game on July 22 against Jackson County National.

10U All-Stars Shine in Southaven

The Bolivar 10U All-Stars were the last team standing at Southaven, winning a pair of games in their bracket to finish 8th in the Dizzy Dean World Series.
“We played hard,” said Head Coach Russ Kelly. “The kids were disappointed we lost, but overall really happy with the experience.”
Down one of their top three pitchers, Kelly threw untested pitchers into the mix for the tournament and got results as Jonathan Donis, Jace Clutter, Hunter Woods, and Trey Watkins all had success setting up staff aces John Baker and Skyler Scott.
Bolivar began with a 15-4 victory over Marshall County, exploding for 11 runs to break a 4-4 tie in the fourth innning.
Jackson County beat Bolivar 13-3 on Sunday morning, but the team rebounded by coming back from 7-1 down to beat Greenville 12-7 that afternoon.
The tournament ended with a 8-4 loss to Madison County as a four-error seven-run third inning for Madison was the difference.
The Bolivar 10U team was the only boys team from Bolivar to win more than one game in bracket play.
