Winner announced in National Geography Bee

Fayette Academy held their annual National Geography Bee with 25 students from grades 4-8 participating.
The preliminary competition consisted of seven rounds. One question per student in each round was asked.  Nine of the 25 students advanced to the final competition where each of the nine students was allowed two incorrect answers before they were eliminated from advancing to the championship round.
Seven more students were eliminated leaving Ragen Morris and Jake Cocke to advance to the championship round. After several rounds of questions, Jake Cocke was pronounced the winner and Ragen Morris first runner up.  This will be the fifth consecutive year that Jake has won this competition.  He will now take a written qualifying test to compete for advancement to the state level.
Jake is an eighth grade student and the son of Chester and Teresa Cocke of Mason.  Ragen is a seventh grade student and the daughter of Zondra Houston and Preston Morris both of Somerville.   Congratulations to both of these students.
