Seniors participate in college simulation
More than 120 seniors from Bolivar Central High School spent the afternoon on Wednesday, April 22 at the University of Memphis Campus participating in Anycollege, a simulation designed to give students a feel for what college life is really like.
The students simulated one week of college, with each day being in 15 minute increments, with a three minute "night" between each day. Students must deal with just about everything that a college student must deal with, including securing funds, paying fees, getting housing, going to class and studying. Every one is assigned a fictional person, each with a unique background that will affect his or her college experience.
“This presents a safe environment to simulate what might happen when they go off to college,” Event Coordinator Dr. Dorrie Powell said.
The program was put on by the Southwest Tennessee Development District's REDI College Access program.
Students from Middleton High School participated in the same exercise a week earlier.
