Old school getting much need “tender loving care”

If you have driven Ebenezer Road by the old school building and Ebenezer Baptist church recently you might have seen some activity. At times it has been one person, Jerry Vales, scraping, priming and painting the Ebenezer school building. At other times, he had others helping namely; Vivian and Louie Gibson, Nedda Jo and Roger King, Margaret and James Smith, Margie Schultz and Nancy Cobb.
Other than painting they have been cleaning out the building, re-working windows, washing the well preserved wood walls and ceilings. For some, the building holds a special place in our hearts. It is filled with many happy memories. For others it is their parents or other relatives who attended the school and for some just a building in the community which needed some "tender, loving care."
In 1984 there was a Reunion of teachers and former students which was well attended. Needless to say, several of these people are no longer with us but we feel there might be others who share our interest in preserving the building. Our next project is the roof. Any assistance with labor or finances would be very much appreciated. Also, we would like any pictures pertaining to the building or school to share or copy and any memorabilia or just written memories
