Middleton Elementary student Kayla Druien gets her face painted by Topeka Goss. Students waited for as long as a half hour to have a design of their choice applied by the talented artist. Kayla, a third grader, chose an octopus. This was one of the most popular activities available to students at the school’s Annual Harvest Festival.

Middleton Elementary PTO sponsors annual Harvest Festival

Slides, the joust, a race track, and an obstacle course. Those were just the inflatable activities available for children attending the annual Middleton Elementary School Harvest Festival. Every corridor in the school was lined with other games and activities.
There were over 20 games requiring different skill levels. This allowed children of all ages, from preschool to upper elementary, the opportunity to successfully complete a challenge and win a prize. A ring toss, balloon pop, and a can toss were just three of these games. Every child walked away a winner.
Popular activities included getting one’s hair painted, tattoos, and a never ending line at the face painting site. The haunted house, manned by high school students, left many adults as frightened as the children.
No festival is complete without something good to eat and this one was no exception. There was a sweet shop selling home baked cakes, cookies, and bread to go. There was a hot dog and chili café for dining in. Also, entertaining the adults was part of the plan also. For grownup enjoyment, there were two auctions. One silent and one live. There were well over a hundred items for sale. From collectibles, to crafts, to gift cards, to items as large as a bicycle, there was something offered that would interest everyone.
