Bolivar Industrial High leaves its mark

An important part of Hardeman County history was marked for future generations on Monday, May 4, as those who bear the title ‘alumni’ gathered to unveil the historical marker for Bolivar Industrial High School (BIHS).
Long since torn down and perhaps a memory to many, those who called the halls of Bolivar Industrial School ‘home’ gathered together to share memories and celebrate the historical marker being placed on the grounds of Bolivar Middle School.
The BIHS committee, made up of former students and teachers of the school, secured the partnership of the Hardeman County Board of Education to purchase the sign.
“When we [school board] were approached about this, it didn’t take long to know what was the right thing to do, what we should do, and we wanted to partner with this group. For me personally, there’s a lot of history in this school,” Warner Ross II, Director of Schools, said. “This is really just a two way partnership and we’re honored to get the opportunity to do it.”
