Bobby Henderson selected as 'All Tennessee School Board' member

This past week, the Hardeman County School Board attended the annual Tennessee School Boards Association Leadership Conference and Annual Convention held in Nashville. The TSBA Leadership Conference exists to provide local boards with the necessary tools to work effectively with the superintendent as well as stakeholder groups for the betterment of the districts. The TSBA Annual Convention is one of the largest education meetings in Tennessee, attracting national and state education leaders as speakers and clinic participants. Each year during the Annual Convention, The Tennessee School Board Association (TSBA) announces the All Tennessee School Board. The All Tennessee School Board is composed of a six member team of distinguished school board members selected by a panel of judges from across the state. During the Nov. 13-16 TSBA Leadership Conference and Annual Convention, Bobby Henderson, Jr. was selected as a member of the 2015 All Tennessee School Board. To be considered for selection, nominees must have attained the following criteria: Must have achieved Level IV Boardsmanship award, must demonstrate a high quality of service with emphasis on the previous 12 months, must have demonstrated significant participation in board development activities with emphasis on the previous 12 months, must demonstrate specific accomplishments of the local board of education during the nominee's term on the board, and must exemplify leadership activities at the local, regional, or state level. Since August of 2006,  Henderson has served the Hardeman County School district in many capacities to include assignments on the budget, insurance and school district advocacy committees. He currently serves as Tennessee Learning Network representative for the district, a TSBA Leadership delegate and as chairman of the Hardeman County Board of Education. In addition, Henderson was recently elected by fellow board members from several South West Tennessee Districts to serve as President of the South-West TN School Boards Association. Henderson has worked diligently to strengthen relationships with all public education stakeholders. “His service brings out the best in us as individuals, as a group and certainly as a community” says Director of Schools Warner Ross. "We rely on his leadership and vision to help guide our community to work together for the betterment of our students and schools”.
Under Henderson’s leadership, the Hardeman County Board of Education has earned Tennessee School Boards Association “Board of Distinction” status for the past four years. Tennessee school boards earning this designation must meet specified requirements in four key areas: planning, policy, promotion and board development.
