Bethel University Ranked second in Nation by best colleges.com

MCKENZIE– Bethel University has been ranked second in the nation in the BestColleges.com list of Best Online Christian Liberal Arts Colleges for 2015. The list, found at www.bestcolleges.com, included Liberty University (Virginia) at number one followed by Bethel, the University of Findlay (Ohio), Indiana Wesleyan University (Indiana), and Southeastern University (Florida) to fill the top five positions.
The site said the following about Bethel University:
“Bethel University’s Success Undergraduate Degree Program is designed for adults over 23 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of work experience. Bethel caters to busy adults in need of flexibility to complete a college degree.”
The synopsis also pointed out that all admitted online students receive a laptop or tablet to facilitate class participation, and it listed some of Bethel’s online degree programs that include: Organizational Management, Criminal Justice (bachelor’s or master’s), Emergency Services Management, General Studies, Education (master’s), nursing (RN to BSN), Business Administration (master’s) and Conflict Resolution (master’s).
According to the BestColleges.com website, schools were included in these top lists because of their Christ-centered online programs and academic merits. Schools were assessed based on overall academic strengths after review of acceptance, enrollment, retention and graduation rates. The school data presented on BestColleges.com was compiled using the most recent information from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a resource maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics.
“This is such a big honor to us,” said Bethel University President Walter Butler. “Our faculty and staff work so hard to deliver to our students a quality product, and this feedback lets us know that our online educational product is meaningful, and it is helping individuals progress to their desired career goals.”
Butler also pointed out that he felt being a Christian based university helps Bethel stay focused on what its mission is.
“Because of our affiliation with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, we always have a center around which to build our programs.”
