Airport Gets 450K+ for Repairs
The Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schrorer and Aeronautical Director William Orellana announced the completed contract with Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain for $478,000.00. The grant will fund a runway/apron rehabilitation project required by Hardeman County to maintain the FAA standards for asphalt. The project is funded by a Federal Airport Improvement Grant and a State Transportation Equity Fund Grant. Hardeman County will participate with a 5%, or a $23,900.00 share.
Mayor Jimmy Sain stated, “I am very proud of our airport and staff. The airport must maintain the FAA standards and without these available funds, it would be a struggle to comply. We have cut the airport budget and it is operating very efficiently. It is a well groomed and very clean facility, but the terminal building is in need of replacement. We are seeking grant funding for a new terminal building and looking forward to replacing the existing terminal, which is an attachment off of the main hangar building.
