Three From County Shine in Horse Competitions

Hardeman County 4-H Horse Project Members, Mikayla Vincent, Hannah Pattat and Jack O’Neal were busy in June as it is the traditional time for Western Region and Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships.
All three members participated in the Western Region 4-H Horse Show held on the campus of UT Martin during the first weekend of June. Freshman Mikayla Vincent was entered in five classes placing 5th in the flag race and 9th in pole bending during the speed events. Showing her gaited horse, Shelby, in the Walking/Racking Division, Mikayla took home a first place ribbon in the Halter class and a third place ribbon in the Pleasure class. 11th grader Hannah Pattat and her horse, Daybreak, placed 3rd in the Western Halter Mares class, 8th in Ranch Riding and 10th in Western Showmanship. 7th grade 4-H’er Jack O’Neal and his horse, DB also participated in several classes during the weekend show. Together, they placed 2nd in Western Trail, 4th in Junior High Showmanship, 8th in Western Halter Geldings, 4th in Ranch Riding, 5th in Ranch Horsemanship, 6th in Junior High Barrels. Due to all of his successes, Jack was crowned as the Junior High Western Division High Point Champion for the Western Region. Assisting the 4-H members in their efforts were volunteers(and parents) Jennifer Vincent and Natasha Mounsey.
