Home and Away: An Officer and a Gentleman

If you met current police officer and former Marine Corps Sergeant Chris King on the streets of Jackson, TN you would not know much about his story.  He is an active member of society but he does not make it a habit to share his background because he is usually too busy protecting and saving lives as his nature has proven for years.  King has carried his Hardeman County heritage with him not only into Madison County where he now lives with his wife and two daughters but also around the world while serving in the Armed Forces.
The 1992 Bolivar Central High graduate says he is honored to claim his Hardeman County background.
“I am proud to say I am from Hardeman County because it is home to both sides of my family and it is where my roots are.” said King. “We are and have always been a close family and family is what matters most to me.”
King is the older of two children born to Gary King, son of Clyde and Wilma King of Toone, and Debbie King, daughter of Hudson and Lottie Webb of Middleton.  His large family includes one sister who also has two children, 12 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
“I come from a hard working family that believes that you should work for what you need and be grateful for what you have,” said King.  “We believe in keeping God and prayer in our lives and treating people the way we would want to be treated.”
King says his family has always been his greatest inspiration and has encouraged him in serving others.
