Rains cause washout on Peavine Road

An approximately 15x15 foot section of Peavine Road, just east of Reaves Road, collapsed Sunday night, December 27. Unfortunately, the buckled area was not discovered until an unsuspecting motorist ran into it. Fortunately, in spite of damage to the vehicle, there were no serious injuries. “The road began to crack last summer” said Gary Bryant, whose driveway is adjacent to the collapsed section. “Apparently the galvanized culvert bowed from the weight and water was able to get under and around the pipe causing the ground beneath the roadway to wash away. Thank goodness no one was badly hurt.” Temporary repairs have been completed and  Peavine Road is open to traffic.
