The City of Saulsbury’s Library has received the gift of a large number of books from an area family in honor of a loved one they recently lost. A monetary donation accompanied the books and memorial projects are under consideration.

Business past, present and future considered by Saulsbury Board

Saulsbury’s December Mayor/Board Meeting looked at the past, present, and the future. Mayor Jim Daniel gave each Alderman a copy of the city’s audit for the year ending June 30, 2015. “According to our C.P.A., Robert Doll, we had no exceptions,” he said.
In other old business, the board reviewed this year’s Christmas Parade. “Having to change the date for the parade due to weather was a circumstance beyond our control. I think that hurt attendance,” said Daniel. “We weren’t able to advertise the change adequately.” He went on to ask the board for their input since this year’s event introduced several changes. A day parade as opposed to night and floats or no floats were some of the areas discussed. This year was the first time there were no floats. There was a short discussion about the possibility of having a combination of floats and mowers. The annual bake sale and the sale of hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate will continue. The parade will be the subject of continuing discussion in months to come.
Mayor Daniel announced the city’s library has received the gift of a large number of books. These and a monetary donation were given by a family to honor a loved one they recently lost. The donation is to be used to fund a memorial project within the city. Daniel asked the Aldermen to consider appropriate projects the money could fund and present those ideas at the next meeting.
Daniel gave the aldermen a copy of a possible proposed ordinance regarding the sale of beer in the city. The ordinance follows guidelines of the Tennessee Code annotated. It will be discussed fully at the next Board meeting. The proposed ordinance addresses beer sales only.
