Sign donated to Bolivar Community Cemetery

Since the late 1800's Bolivar Community Cemetery has served as one of the primary locations for the burial of Bolivar African-Americans.  It was established by the members of St. Paul Colored (now Christian) Methodist Episcopal Church and Greater Springfield Baptist Church.  Over the years it has become the final resting place for many prominent residents and continues to serve the community.

For the most of the cemetery's existence it did not have any signage to identify it's location on East McNeal Street.  Recently that was remedied with a new sign made and installed by the Hardeman County Drug Court group.   The sign was made by students and instructors at the Tennessee Technology Center at Whiteville and the Central High School auto body class. A special thanks goes out to the Honorable General Sessions Judge Boyette Denton and Steve Robinson for their leadership on this project.
All of those that are affiliated or have loved ones within the confines of this historic cemetery want to thank those that participated in this project.
