Open house introduces new chamber director
The Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce held an open house on Monday Dec. 7, to give citizens a chance to see their newly renovated office at 114 S. Main St., as well as formally introduce their new director, Kandy Shackelford.
Shackelford, who took over as chamber director at the end of September, has been in this position before, serving for two years in the 90s. She replaced Rob Jensik, who announced his retirement earlier in the year.
“I am really excited about this opportunity,” Shackelford said. “I love working with people and working with the county.”
One of her first acts as chamber director was to give the chamber offices a facelift, with new carpeting, and a new paint job. She has also been working with the chamber board and current Chamber President Mack Carter to rewrite the mission statement for the chamber, as well as develop a business development plan that they are hoping to implement in the coming weeks.
