The Hornsby water tower is in need of repair

Hornsby to raise water rates 24 percent

Hornsby Mayor Mack Carter announced that the city’s Water Department would be requesting a 24 percent increase in water rates for the coming year, during the December Board of Aldermen Meeting, on Dec. 1, at Hornsby City Hall.
Hornsby becomes the latest town in Hardeman County to announce a hike in water rates. The reason for the increase is twofold. The city is losing money on water, and the town needs to find a way to pay for repairs for its aging water tank. The State Comptroller office mandated that the city not lose money on water.
The increase will add up to $4.00 per month on resident’s water bills.
