Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain and Grand Junction Mayor Curtis Lane light the town’s new Christmas tree.

Grand Junction lights new Christmas tree

The city of Grand Junction held a special tree lighting ceremony on Saturday night, Dec. 5, in the open space across from city hall.
The tree, which stands 25 feet tall and has 6500 lights, was purchased by the town, along with several decorations for light poles in the town. According to Grand Junction Mayor Curtis Lane, the cost of the tree and most of the decorations were paid for by the town with the rest of the money coming from donations from Grand Junction residents. A total of 25 street light decorations were purchased, with the hope of purchasing more in the coming year.
Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain was on hand to help Lane light the tree. Afterwards, there was food available for sale for those in attendance, along with Christmas carolers, and a special visit from Santa Claus.
