GVL Ladies Club gears up for Christmas
The Grand Valley Lakes Ladies Club set Dec. 15 as the date for their annual Christmas dinner. The menu will be orange maple chicken or pork with cranberries and plums. Accompaniments will be rice pilaf and green beans amandine. Dessert will be brownie with caramel sauce. The Social Event Committee is in process of accepting RSVPs and the response has been great. Ernie Kelly and members of her committee are busy putting together ideas for decorating the POA lodge for the event.
Volunteers are needed to help during the dinner. Any members willing should contact Joann Wilson.
There was a discussion regarding decorating the entrance walls, guard house, the outside of the POA lodge and the marina. Volunteers, Wanda Culver and Louise Watkins, have completed decorating the outside of the guard house. Other locations are scheduled.
The Sunshine Committee has been busy sending cards to Caris Healthcare patients in Bolivar, Somerville, and Whiteville. The club has made gifts for the hospice’s patients also. The Benevolence Committee has been busy. There have been five deaths affecting Valley residents in the past month.
