
Master Gardeners hold recognition banquet
Hardeman County Master Gardeners were recognized for completion of course, volunteer hours, and years of service. Charlene Sipes was named outstanding Master Gardener for 2015. Master Gardeners have contributed over a thousand hours of volunteer service to the community. Some of the projects they have been involved in included Certification of Middleton City Park as a level 1 arboretum, landscaping at Grand Junction Elementary School, and decorating the Christmas tree at the Bolivar Municipal building.
Those receiving their interim master gardener certificates for having completed forty hours of classroom instruction included: Patricia Sweat, Shirley Benton, and James Poore. Receiving their Master Gardener certificates for having completed over 40 hours of volunteer service were: Mary Jo Gordon, Tes Herman, Barbara Oliger, Mike Rodgers, Angie Rose, Rose Toms, Pamela Wade, and Gerald Wade. Three year service pin was given to Maggie Barrowclough and five year pin to Betty Golden. Gold leaf certificates and pins were given to recognize individuals who had given over a hundred hours of service this year. Receiving the recognition were Durward Baxter, Anna Laura Bledsoe, Barbara Oliger, and Charlene Sipes. The Master Gardener program is offer through the Hardeman County UT/TSU Extension Service.
