Hardeman County JECD holds quarterly meet in Saulsbury

The Hardeman County Joint Economic and Community Development Board (JECD) held its quarterly meeting at the Saulsbury City Hall. County Mayor Jimmy Sain, seven municipal mayors and three board members attended.
Mayor Sain passed out copies of the Tennessee code that defines membership requirements for the JECD Board. Elected city and county officials serve terms hat correspond to their term in office. Non-elected (appointed) members serve four year terms. The current non-elected board members have served over four years, which is the maximum allowed by code. Their term is now completed. Mayor Sain will recommend new members at the next meeting. The board agreed there was a need for representatives from agricultural and industrial sectors.
Silerton Mayor Bill Mayfield made a motion to purchase a sound system which could be shared by all municipalities. The motion carried.
Bolivar Mayor Barrett Stevens made a motion for JECD to sponsor a meal costing up to $1,500 with the Chamber of Commerce during the National Field Trials. The motion carried. The board felt this was an excellent opportunity to advertise Hardeman County.
