County officials gathered together to celebrate their improved financial situation since the adoption of the new budget this past summer has placed the county in a 1.3 million dollar difference against last year’s approved budget.

County officials celebrate budget

After struggling for several years prior in having a budget that is adopted within the state’s timeframe of having an approved budget, as well as struggling to adopt a budget which would leave the county in the black instead of the red, county officials celebrated September 1 for their budget which has accomplished both.
County officials gathered together to enjoy cake and fellowship as they celebrated their work in cutting their individual department budgets has assisted the county in improving its financial situation. Though not completely where the county needs to be financially yet, Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain said the county is on its way up.
“Thanks to everyone being fiscally responsible with their spending, we are moving in the right direction. We are not out of the woods yet, but we can see daylight,” Sain said.
