Bell retires from city after 45 years

After serving the citizens of Bolivar for 45 years, Street Department Superintendent Lloyd Bell retired. The City of Bolivar held a retirement celebration for Bell on Wednesday, August 26 at the Bolivar Municipal Center.
“He is pretty dear to all our hearts,” Bolivar Mayor Barrett Stevens said. “He has faithfully served this city and our residents for many years. We wish him the best in his retirement.”
Bolivar Fire Chief Lynn Price told Bell during the retirement celebration that his service to the fire department was appreciated and will always be remembered.
“Lloyd I’d like to say that I appreciate everything you’ve done for the fire department. Since I’ve been chief in 2009, there is nothing I’ve asked you to do for the fire department that you have not done. We’re really going to miss you,” Price said.
Bell said he has enjoyed the time he has spent serving Bolivar and is looking forward to retirement.
“I’ve enjoyed it. Some of it’s been good. Some of it’s been bad. I’ve enjoyed my job,” Bell said.
