Grand Junction’s Mayor/Board pushing library improvements
The Grand Junction Mayor and Board of Aldermen continue to work toward bringing the library up to standard. Leaning on recommendations of the Tennessee Code Annotated, the city appointed a new library board composed of Franklin Stanford, Courtney Breeden, Levi Smith. Reta Sutton, Patrick Mitchell, Billie Gatewood, and J.P. Hussey. Additionally, the librarian is now a city employee. All finances have become a part of the Grand Junction’s operating budget. The library board interviewed and recommended Wanza Taylor to be Librarian. This was approved by the board of aldermen. Combined efforts have brought about a lot of progress in just two months.
Currently, the library board is in process of writing new by-laws which, upon completion, will be submitted to the city’s board of aldermen for approval. When the by-laws are in place, the library’s operating structure will be complete.
“Wanza Taylor has been working really hard to make improvements at the library. If you haven’t been by lately, you should take the opportunity to visit. The changes she’s already made are impressive,” said Mayor Curtis Lane.
