Grand Junction Fire Department’s pumpers pass test

Grand Junction Fire Department’s pumper trucks were recently inspected and tested by Dudley Fire Consultants. Both trucks passed but are in need of some preventive repair and maintenance. Some vibration was detected in one truck’s pump which could indicate a possible bearing failure in the near future. The pump primer in the other needs repair or replacement. Mayor Curtis Lane will get pricing information for completion of the repair or maintenance and present it at the next meeting.
Grand Junction included the purchase of another police vehicle in the current year’s budget. Police Chief Larry Hunt has been seeking the additional vehicle and has arrived at an expected maximum cost based on his research. The Board of Aldermen passed a motion to allow Hunt to negotiate a purchase not to exceed $14,100. The vehicle will be paid for using money from the city’s drug fund. If the chief is successful in his search, cost from the city’s general fund will be near zero.
Shannon Cotter, Grand Junction’s grant writer, presented a resolution to the board allowing her to seek a grant to improve the city’s sewer system. The grant would be for approximately $200,000.
