MHDS Bolivar supports Relay for Life
MHDS is proud to further the efforts of local Relay for Life organizers by preparing over 250 luminaries to be used at the recently held Spring Relay for Life Fundraiser at the Hardeman County Courthouse Square.
MHDS serves adults with intellectual disabilities with programs which provide home supports, employment and skills training for 60+ persons in Hardeman County.
Pat Pope, Day Services Assistant Director of MHDS Bolivar, shared “Our members have been assisting with the luminary project for the past seven plus years. Of the ten persons who helped, one is a cancer survivor and all of the others have friends or family members who have battled cancer. Each person participated with a sense of duty and service to their community. They wanted to do their part to help defeat this disease which threatens us one and all.”
“MHDS programs are designed to foster independence while providing skills development and retention. Involvement in this project certainly reinforced those goals. We are very proud of the persons involved,” commented William D. Brewer, Jr., Executive Director of the agency which also has facilities in Jackson and Brownsville.
