Wanda King fundraiser a success

Volunteers for a fundraiser for heart transplant recipient Wanda King of Toone did not let a little wet weather dampen their will to help out a friend in need.
Members of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Silerton, along with members of the King and Howell families held the benefit on Saturday, May 30, at the old Curves building adjacent to the Farmers Market on W. Lafayette St. in Bolivar. The group was raising money to help defray medical and travel expenses resulting from King's heart transplant surgery, which was on March 25 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, as well as several subsequent visits to Vanderbilt afterward.
In addition to plenty of food, there was a silent auction, a yard sale, a bake sale, music, and a bouncy house for the kids.
King was able to come to the event for a short time, and was overwhelmed with the generosity of the community.
