Memorial Day is set aside to honor those who gave their life in service to this country.

Remembering and honoring

“Not only do I want people to remember the men and women who gave their lives for everything we take for granted daily, but I also want them to remember the families that have that empty seat at the dinner table, the ball field, the empty bed,” Jennifer Braden, widow of SFC Michael Braden, said. “The family remembers them every day and there is no way to bring them back. The family is left here to struggle through daily life without them here.”
SFC Michael Braden of the Tennessee Army National Guard was 45 years old when he was shot and killed while working at the National Guard Armory in Lobelville, TN on July 9, 2014. Before transferring to Lobelville, SFC Braden had served two tours to Kuwait with the 1175th Transportation Company in Brownsville, TN, where he served with many soldiers from Hardeman County.
