Hardeman CCA graduates RDAP students

The Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) at Hardeman County Correctional Facility has been graduating inmates for several years, with a high success rate in decreasing recidivism.
The program, which instills within participants accountability for actions, learning to accept change, thinking before acting, building a foundation of honesty and open mindedness, and to continue being examples of positive change (among other aspects), held the graduation ceremony on Friday, March 27.
The graduation featured testimonies from graduates Curtis Gordon and Michael Goolsby, along with guest speaker Bob Sauter, Executive Director of Forgiveness House. Sauter told the graduates and those in attendance that change was possible and he has seen change through those who come into Forgiveness House, but success was ultimately a choice they needed to make.
“Within corrections, there is still hope and healing,” Addictions Treatment Manager Tommy Corman said.
Corman said the purpose was to ensure once the inmates were released, they could become successful and productive citizens and neighbors by overcoming addictions.
“The truth is most of the people in prison will get out at some point,” Corman said.
