
Cocke competed in state spelling bee
Fayette Academy student Jake Cocke recently competed in the 2015 Tennessee National Geographic State Bee held on March 27 in Nashville. The bee is sponsored by Google and Plum Creek and held at the Martin Professional Development Center.
This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 27th year. After being named Geography Bee School Champion, he was required to take a qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society. Following the submission of the test, Jake was notified he was a semifinalist in the Tennessee State Geographic Bee.
Jake placed seventh out of the 100 students from across the state that competed for the top prize. Jake is a seventh grader and the son of Chester and Teresa Cocke of Braden.
