Shemeka Sain, Daughter of Maxine and Lewis Sain, is a 2015 Mu Zeta Zeta scholarship recipient. She is graduating this year from Middleton High School and will attend University of Tennessee at Martin. Her cousin Tasha introduced her to the group she plans to join next year.

Mu Zeta Zetas have a heart for Education

The Hardeman County “Mu Zeta Zeta” chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority held its Biannual luncheon on Saturday. The sorority honored four promising young students from area schools that can include Hardeman, Fayette, Haywood and Madison counties. The 2015 honorees were Shemeka Sain and Darius Phinessee. The chapter also recognized 2014 recipients Xandria White and Tory Merriweather.
This Mu Zeta Zeta chapter carries on a tradition of social conscious that began in 1920 when five African American coeds banded together to form an organization that cared more for improving society than improving socialization.
