Fire Department wins The Battle of the Badges

The Bolivar Fire Department was the winner of this year's Battle of the Badges blood drive, which was held on Wednesday, April 1, at the Bolivar Municipal Center.
The contest, which has been going on for more than five tears, pits The Bolivar Fire Department, Bolivar Police Department, The Hardeman County Sheriff's Office, and the Hardeman County Ambulance Department, in a race to see which department can donate, or have donated in their honor, the most blood to Lifeline Blood Services in Jackson.
According to Tammy Hurst, of Lifeline, there were a total of 27 donors this year, and they were able to draw 22 good units.
The Bolivar Fire Department was the clear winner overall this year, with a total of 18 donors, almost double the amount as the other three departments combined. The Sheriff's Department came in second with five donors, the Police Department had four donors, and the Ambulance Department had two donors. The Fire Department will receive a plaque for winning this year's contest.
