How Good Government Works

“This is how good government works,” said Tennessee State Representative Johnny Shaw during his segment of County Commissioner Bethany Miller’s Town Hall Meeting at Carriage House Coffee Shop in Bolivar. “Where citizens come and can ask questions about things that are important to them.”

Also on the program were Hardeman County Director of Schools Christy Smith, Hardeman County Highway Superintendent Casey Swift, and James Reaves, Tennessee Director for USDA Discrimination Financial Assistance Program.

The crowd of about forty people, which included several elected officials from both county and city governments, heard each speaker and then had a chance to ask questions during the two-hour session. Miller, who represents District 2 in Hardeman County, hosted the event, her second such meeting since taking office in 2022. A third event is being planned for December.
