Sparks fly over selling land at Bolivar City Council Meeting

After the City of Bolivar purchased two pieces of land in a tax sale a year ago, the proposal was brought before the city council to vote in agreement to sell the land back to a member of the previous owner’s family. However, tensions arose after one council member questioned the fairness of the city in their approach to some individuals as opposed to others. On the other hand, Bolivar City Mayor Barrett Stevens attempted to explain the city purchased the property from the county and the City of Bolivar does not take anyone’s land, the county is responsible for taking land that is behind on taxes.
