DCS top ranked official pleads not guilty to aggravated assault

One of the Department of Children's Services top ranked officials appeared in Henderson County General Sessions Court on Tuesday, March 31, and pled not guilty to four counts of aggravated assault.

Warren Clay Crook, 54, is the Deputy Regional Administrator for the 11 county Southwest Region of DCS.

According to Lexington Police Department authorities, Crook approached three teenagers who were inside a parked vehicle in the vicinity of where he resides. Crook, armed with a handgun, fired a shot. No one was injured but another teenage girl was walking nearby and the shot resulted in four counts of aggravated assault.

DCS said their internal affairs is investigating the incident. Crook pled not guilty and was released on bond.
