Trenton man charged in Trey Polk death

Phil Dion Grooms, 42, of Trenton, TN, was charged with two counts of Vehicular Homicide Driver X2 and Reckless Homicide in the October 21, 2013 death of former Bolivar Central High School standout Trey Polk
Grooms was indicted by a Grand Jury and turned himself in to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office on December 12, and released on a $50,000 bond after an appearance in Hardeman County Court on December 12. His next scheduled court date is January 7, 2016 in Hardeman County Circuit Court.
The accident, which involved five vehicles, occurred on October 21, 2013 on Hwy 18 N. near Snow White Tavern. According to the accident report, Grooms was driving a truck owned by his employer, Center Line Electric. He was traveling south, when he crossed the center line, causing extensive damage to three of the four other cars involved, including the car driven by Trey Polk, which overturned. The vehicle driven by Grooms also overturned, and Grooms was seriously injured. Both Grooms and Polk were transported to Jackson General. One other driver was slightly injured in  the accident.
