Middleton takes initial steps to apply for block grant

The City of Middleton is currently looking to fill positions for Chief of Police and one patrol officer. The Chief’s position will be filled first. The city will look in-house before seeking outside applicants. In other police business, the board voted to purchase a new printer for the department’s computer. Patrolman Richie Webb was involved in an accident on Thursday, Jan. 7. The accident was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Their report is pending. The Sheriff’s Department supplied the parts to repair Webb’s patrol car at no cost to the city.
Middleton’s 2015 audit report, along with letters from CPA David Jones, were distributed to the aldermen. There were no significant findings.
The board passed three resolutions regarding a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). This grant will be used for a Sewer System Improvements Project. These improvements will be made to Middleton’s sewage lagoon and are needed to support future health, welfare, and growth of the city.
