Middleton receives donation for library

Middleton’s December Mayor board meeting was an abbreviated session. An executive session was on the agenda but was cancelled until further notice.
The Police Department requested and received permission to destroy 131 items that had been stored in the evidence locker for several years. The items will be reviewed by the court and destroyed only after receiving the court’s permission to do so.
Fire Chief Tommy Seever updated the board on progress in the federal grant application for a new truck. He asked the board to increase the city’s matching percentage from five to fifteen. This additional participation would increase Middleton’s chances of receiving the grant. The board approved Seever’s request.
Resolution 215-01 Fitness for Duty was tabled until the city’s attorney could be consulted on some language and provisions.
Mayor Jackie Cox announced the John Gray family has made a donation of a great many books to the Middleton Library. The mayor expressed appreciation and extended thanks on behalf of the city.
