Middleton Pentecostal Tabernacle gives back
"Giving back" took on a new meaning as members of the Middleton Pentecostal Tabernacle Church grilled hundreds of hotdogs, popped several hundred bags of popcorn and spun many cones of cotton candy at Middleton City Park. Then they gave it all to party goers for free. In addition, the church gave away over 80 hams and turkeys. Children in attendance enjoyed playing in and on several huge inflatables. “We spent the past two Saturdays handing out cards and inviting people in Millington, Walnut, and Bolivar to join us here,” said Pastor Tim Wilbanks. In spite of threatening weather and a light sprinkle bringing the Halloween day event to an earlier close than anticipated, an estimated 300-400 people.
“This is our third annual block party. Our goal is to give back to the community. We want everyone in the area to know we are there. We are there to help them in times of physical or spiritual need,” Wilbanks said.
Wilbanks received his PhD two weeks ago. He founded the church 30 years ago and has been the only pastor throughout those years.
