Mayor Sain addresses Grand Valley Lakes Ladies Club

Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain was the guest speaker at the March meeting of Grand Valley Lakes Ladies Club. Sain addressed several issues that are of particular interest to Valley residents. The county is continuing to push the Spring Creek Lake project. Several restaurants and motels have contacted the county expressing interest in building nearby if the project is approved. A lot of work remains to be done before it becomes a reality. One example would be a study to make sure no wildlife would be endangered by constructing a dam. Also all residents in the affected area would have to be contacted to make sure they have no objections to having lakefront property. This has been in the planning stages for some time and certainly is still several years from completion.
Another project which could have a major impact on Grand Valley Lakes is the recent purchase of Lone Oaks Farm. The state purchased the farm with the intention of creating a 4-H center there. There are plans to build a convention center on the property.
