HFD to hold fall festival

Hornsby leaders are in the process of finalizing a reboot of the annual Hornsby Fall Classic to help raise money for the Hornsby Fire Department.
The annual festival was held from 2010 through 2014 before being replaced last year with the Family Fun Day, which raised money for Hornsby Elementary School.
“We decided to go back to the old festival so that we could raise money to help with purchasing new equipment, as well as training firefighters,” Hornsby Mayor Mack Carter said.
The festival is slated for Saturday, September 12, with an alternate date of Saturday, May 26, if it rains. The festival will feature a lawn mower pull, an antique car cruise, children's games, a silent auction, live music, karaoke, arts and crafts vendors and plenty of food. There will also be a motorcycle ride, as well as free hayrides to the Country Music Museum. The day will be capped off with a fireworks display.
“This will be a great event for the whole family. There will be something for every one,” Carter said.
Some of the details are still being worked out, but should be finalized within the next couple of weeks.
