Grand Valley Lakes Board meeting addresses issues

The Grand Valley Lakes Board of Directors has elected its officers for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Re-elected were Myra Cox, president, Bubba Winkler, vice president, Jeannie Ferri, secretary, and Bill Platten was elected treasurer.
May 1 was the deadline for new 2015 window decals to be placed in resident vehicles. Residents that do not have their decal visible to security personnel are required to enter the valley through the visitor’s gate. Some security personnel have been subjected to abusive language when enforcing the rule.
“These people ought to be thankful that we have these rules. This is for their safety and security,” said Danielle Emerson, director.
The board also agreed beginning on May 15 all vehicles must enter through the visitor’s gate from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. The reason for this new ruling is the inability of security to see decals distinctly when the vehicle is entering through the resident lane after dark. There will be little, if any, delay under the new rule.
“This is a security precaution. We actually average fewer than a dozen cars entering the valley after 10 p.m.,” said Cox. “This shouldn’t be a problem.”
