Bizarre burglary attempt at Fayette County Bank

The Fayette County Bank branch located at the intersection of Highways 18 and 57 was the scene of a bizarre burglary attempt. In the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 14, an as yet unidentified individual shattered several panes in windows on the south and west sides of the building. He did this with his bare fists. Apparently this resulted in serious cuts to his hands. The suspect removed the bank’s flags from their pole and it appears used them to stop the bleeding. A passerby witnessed the suspect’s actions and called law enforcement.  He was subsequently taken into custody some distance from the branch.  “We really appreciate the resident calling this in. We also appreciate the prompt action taken by the Fayette County Sheriff’s office,” said Pattie Lessel, Branch Administrator. The investigation is incomplete at this time.
