Vandalized signs costly for county

Stolen and vandalized signs are becoming an epidemic in Hardeman County, according to highway department officials.
“This has been going on for at least the past 16 years, but has gotten a lot worse lately,” David Sipes, Hardeman County Superintendant of Roads said.”
Many of the signs have been vandalized, usually with spray paint, which happened recently on Fire Tower Road near Silerton. Two signs, a weight limit and speed limit sign were partially covered with yellow spray paint, and a name, John Tillmon, was written on the road beside one of the signs. A third sign, a neighborhood watch sign, not belonging to the county, was also damaged.
