Union Hill M.B. Church hosts fourth annual Bible Bowl

The fourth annual Dr. Larry Boyle Bible Bowl was held on Saturday, April 11, at Union Hill M.B. Church, pitting youth from seven churches in a contest to see how well they know the Bible.
According to Bro. Randy Crews Sr, the coordinator of this years event, the Bible Bowl is sponsored by the West Tennessee/Hardeman County District Association of Missionary Churches. There are 21 churches in the district and all were invited to compete. Nine churches were slated to participate, but two had to bow out.
"My immediate goal is 100 percent participation from the district, but ultimately, I would love to see this go county wide,” Crews said. “We want to give the children a spiritual foundation, because that will help them become better citizens.”
There were three rounds in this year’s contest. In Round One, Mt. Salem M.B. Church defeated Union Hill M.B. Church 70-5, Progressive M.B. Church defeated Old Bethel M.B. Church 71-35, and Hillfield M.B. Church defeated New Hope M.B. Church 70-0. In the semi-final round, Greater Springfield M.B. Church, which had a bye in the first round, defeated Mt. Salem 70-30, and Progressive defeated Hillfield 75-65. In the final round, Greater Springfield defeated Progressive 200-131 to take this year’s title.
