This tag could cost you $295

Do you live in Hardeman County and purchase your tags in another county to save money? This means of savings could cost you $295. A recent drastic drop in wheel tax revenue has brought concern to Hardeman County officials.
In 2007, the Hardeman County Commission added a $40 wheel tax to the existing wheel tax to fund a new Criminal Justice Center. The additional tax raised the total to $80. This made the price of your vehicle tags $104 with $40 going to the highway fund and $40 going to the criminal justice building. Since this increase, the number of tags purchased has continually declined leaving both funds short of projected revenue.
