Snowflake Ball celebrates 10 years

The Bolivar General Healthcare Foundation celebrated 10 years of giving back to the community through the annual Snowflake Ball on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the former site of the Boys and Girls Club in Bolivar.
According to Don Young, chairman of the foundation, more than $160,000 has been raised in the 10 year history of the ball, and everything raised has come right back into the community.
The Snowflake Ball began in 2006 as the main fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club, and continued until the club closed a few years later. For the last several years, funds raised from the ball are split between several local charities.
Charities that have benefited over the years include Hope House, Junior Achievement, Hardeman County Literacy Council, Imagination Library, Loaves and Fishes, A.N.G.E.L.S., and Students with a Purpose (SWAP). Members of SWAP have helped out at the ball for the last several years.
