Pastor Jeffrey D. Bledsoe, his wife Bobby, State Representative Johnny Shaw, CB&S Bank representative Sharon Murden, and other church members celebrate the ground breaking of Simon Chapel MB Church new building in Whiteville

Simon Chapel MB Church holds groundbreaking

It has been several years in the making, but Simon Chapel MB Church finally saw the concluding stages of achieving a new church building coming true on Sunday, May 10.
The church held its groundbreaking ceremony for the new building, which will be located off Highway 100 in Whiteville, just behind the BP station, and church members said the church is anxious to get their new building up and ready.
“We’re just excited to embark on this new journey,” CharMaine TyRelle, church member, said. “We’re always having overflow. We have to bring chairs out for people.”
The congregation, presently consisting of approximately 110 attendants weekly, began a building fund for the new building six years ago. The church accessed the land for the building first and paid off the land. Now, the groundbreaking for the building has been held and contractors are beginning construction.
The church currently meets at 2610 Mt. Tabor Road in Whiteville with Pastor Jeffrey D. Bledsoe presiding. The building has been financed by CB&S Bank.
